Have you seen my timed 3 minute watercolor sketches on social media?

On January 1st I started a new sketchbook filling it with timed 3-minute watercolor sketches.

I pick an object that has a special meaning or something I just want to practice painting like shoes, bottles…

I’ve learned to have my paints and supplies prepped and ready because 3 mins go by fast. Sometimes I’ll set the timer for 1.5 mins, take a breath break and then finish up with paint and maybe a micron pen mark or two.

I think you can see the micron lines on some of them. I’m using a Canson mix media book because I had that already, just wanted to get started and not be too perfect about it.

It’s really fun to see my progress. I’m sticking to this practice this whole year and can’t wait to see this book in December. Here are some of my favorite pages.

This is week Jan 1 -5.

Week Jan 17 - 21, looks looser than the first week.

January 31 - Feb 5. I love this page for it’s loose energy, fashion items and art supplies.

January 28 - 30. I love the colors on this page. Totally unplanned I just pick interesting shapes that I’d like to practice painting.

February 13 - 14th, A super watery page and I love the loosness of the paint, letting it do it’s own thing.

Feruary 15 - 19th. My favorite on this page is the glass with lemon in it. Does it look like a lemon to you?
